The Brilliance of Biodiversity Cover Print

Each year we put out a call for illustrators for our annual planting guide. In 2024, illustrator and author Julian Plum was selected for our 2025 publication, Gardening for Biodiversity. 

The cover alone includes over 40 native Northeast species of plants and creatures. Julian painted the full wraparound cover, six interior illustrations featuring native plant communities, and a few spot illustrations in traditional gouache on hot press paper.

He focused on the lush, intricate richness of a truly biodiverse garden, balancing text space with interwoven leaves, flowers, seeds, and critters.
