Heal-all is named after its use in traditional medicine to treat several ailments. This mint-family perennial’s ability to spread by roots makes it a wonderful groundcover and useful in lawn replacement. As highlighted in the Wild Seed Project Native Ground Covers for Northeast Landscapes guide it is especially useful for soil stabilization. Heal-all’s clusters of purple-blue flowers can be found loaded with native bees and other pollinators.

Native to: North America including Maine

Growing conditions: sun to part shade, dry to medium soils

Natural habitat: pastures, moist fields, woodland edges

Grows up to: 4-20” 

Blooms: June-August

Pairs well with: yarrow, sweet fern, common blue violet
